When parents are faced with the fact that the child, due to age, can already walk on the street on their own, they are overcome by anxiety. After all, the street is fraught with many dangers that the baby cannot always cope with. This means that you need to gradually prepare him for making the right decisions on his own and teach him personal safety.
Instructions
Step 1
Not all parents have the opportunity to accompany and pick up their child from school. And not everyone can afford to hire a nanny. If your toddler is in primary school, look for a school within walking distance. And even if it will not be the best, but you can reach it on your own. After the fourth grade, it will be possible to change the school to a more prestigious one. By this time, the child will have already learned how to behave in public places and will be able to go to school on his own.
Step 2
Teach your child about outdoor behavior. Explanations about unfamiliar adults should not be intimidating. Do not describe in paints why you cannot enter into a conversation with anyone and accept an invitation to visit or take a walk. Rather, argue that parents will be worried if their child goes with strangers. And so that the child does not have time to idly wander the streets, set the time of the test call that you will make to your home phone. By this time, the baby should be at home. And if he does not appear, explain that he will be punished. And this punishment must be serious and put into effect immediately. This will make it clear to the child that the parents are serious about his safety and are worried about him.
Step 3
Teach your child to cross the road correctly. And this can only be done by personal example. Many children succumb to herd instinct and run across the road in the wrong place so as not to seem "weaklings". In this situation, parental authority should be stronger. If a child knows for sure that parents will never do this and condemn traffic violations, he will behave more attentively on the road.
Step 4
Explain to the student that he must also take care of the safety of his personal belongings. Most often, children become victims of mobile phone thieves. Of course, we have to admit that a child needs a phone so that parents can contact him. But don't buy expensive models for your children. A budgetary device within two thousand rubles will be enough for them. Ask your child to never reach for the phone in the street and show it openly. Even at school, it is better to use a mobile phone in the classroom without going out into the corridor with it. Senior students can take away their phones from younger students. Various game consoles are also easy prey, which not only attract thieves, but also distract from study.
