A sore throat is one of the most unpleasant things that can ruin any person's mood. Its intensity can vary from mild perspiration to unbearable pain, due to which every sip turns into torture. And what to do if a small child has a sore throat, who cannot even explain what exactly and how much it hurts?
Instructions
Step 1
A sore throat is not a disease. This is a symptom, a manifestation of many different diseases. It is possible to establish that it is the throat that hurts by a number of signs, the main of which are the child's refusal to drink, breast, food, noisy swallowing, tension of the muscles of the chest when pharynx. There are also indirect signs: the child becomes lethargic, apathetic, his temperature rises, chills appear, he cries a lot and does not pay attention to things and toys that previously interested him.
Step 2
In order to make sure that it is the throat that hurts, look into the child's mouth while crying, or, taking a clean spoon at room temperature, gently press on the root of the tongue and look into the throat. If it is red, covered with a coating, you need to call a doctor. But even before he comes, you can help your baby. You can give a light antipyretic (in the form of a syrup or rectal suppository), drink plenty of fluids, preferably chamomile infusion, since this plant has a strong disinfectant effect.
After, especially if the doctor has to come only the next day, you can inhale medicinal herbs with a steam inhaler, or let the child breathe saline through a nebulizer to moisturize the inflamed mucosa. You can also drip special drops into the ears - in children, the Eustachian tube connecting the inner ear to the pharynx is short, so the inflammation almost always goes to the ears.
Step 3
A good and proven remedy is an alcohol compress on the neck. Dilute vodka with water one to two, moisten cheesecloth, place on the front of the neck, cover with a suitable sheet of parchment paper (you can use baking paper) and tie with a cotton scarf. Leave it on for a few hours.
Step 4
But these are all just ways to relieve pain until a doctor comes in to diagnose and prescribe the appropriate treatment for your child in this case.
