Ten years ago, it was unthinkable to use a different method of swaddling than a tight one. However, today an increasing number of pediatricians are inclined to consider it incorrect and even dangerous, claiming that a constrained baby has circulatory disorders, a delay in coordination development, and therefore mothers are advised to swaddle their children freely, or even completely abandon the "shackles".
Instructions
Step 1
Up to two months, the baby should be in diapers, this is only due to the fact that the skin is very thin and delicate, and the seams, even external ones, on the sliders and undershirts can injure the baby. After two months with the normal development of the child, swaddling can be abandoned altogether, but not earlier.
Step 2
Swaddling can be tight, loose and wide. Supporters of tight swaddling (mainly people of the older generation) argue that with tight swaddling, the child lies calmly, does not wake up from involuntary movements of arms and legs. The statement that with this method of swaddling, the baby's crooked legs are straightened, is very doubtful. The curvature of the legs can be a sign of rickets and a lack of vitamin D in the child's body. The negative properties of tight swaddling include the fact that the child's blood circulation is impaired, and prolonged use can even cause muscle dystrophy.
Step 3
With free swaddling, only the lower part of the body is wrapped around the child, leaving his hands free. This method allows the baby to breathe more freely, which, in turn, develops his lungs. According to doctors, well-developed lungs will save the child from pneumonia in the future.
Step 4
An envelope for a newborn is very suitable for free swaddling. The child should wear a romper with a disposable diaper and a blouse. Mitten bags are put on the hands of the baby so that the child cannot injure himself with marigolds, and so that the hands do not freeze.
Step 5
Wide swaddling is used to prevent the correct development of the baby's hip joint. In this case, a diaper helps a lot, which spreads the baby's legs, and he takes the pose of a "frog".
Step 6
Without a diaper, a light, wide diaper is wrapped around the lower part of the body, and the free end is folded over and fixed under the armpits. The baby bends the legs at the knees, and presses the arms to the chest, that is, he takes the position of the embryo, in which he was comfortable for all nine months.
Step 7
Of course, if the child is very active, has difficulty falling asleep, because the arms and legs are constantly moving, you can swaddle him in a tight way. Only the child should be regularly freed from the "shackles" and given a light massage to restore blood circulation.
Step 8
At the age of six months, the baby can begin to be dressed in rompers with a diaper and a blouse. A child at this age is already exploring space with curiosity, and this form of clothing will not hinder his movement.
