Step 1
First of all, collect the necessary documents. Ask your future spouse to take a certificate stating that there are no barriers to marriage. This document is issued by the competent authority of a foreign state.

Do not forget to make sure that your fiancé is in the country legally and has a valid visa and registration at the place of stay. Otherwise, you will be denied registration of marriage in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Check your passports. Make sure they contain photos, documents are not expired and have no torn or frayed pages.

Please note that according to the Federal Law "On Acts of Civil Status", the submitted certificates and other documents must be legalized, translated into Russian and notarized. Legalization means confirmation of the authenticity of documents by the authorities of a foreign state. If your chosen one / chosen one is a citizen of a country that is a member of the Hague Convention, you will need to affix the "apostille" stamp. In other cases, you can legalize documents at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Prepare all documents, check them and take them to the registry office. Keep in mind that in Moscow, marriages with citizens of foreign countries are registered only at the Wedding Palace No. 4, which is located on Butyrskaya Street. If necessary, you may be asked to bring additional certificates. This will depend on which country your chosen one is.
Step 6
Go to the registry office with your future spouse and submit a joint application. Confirm in it the mutual voluntary consent to marry and the fact that there are no reasons that prevent marriage. Indicate name, surname, patronymic, date and place of birth, age and place of residence. Decide if you will change your last name.
Step 7
If, for one reason or another, your chosen one / chosen one cannot be present with you in the registry office on this day, write separate statements. A few days before submitting the application, go to the registry office, take the application form and give it to your future spouse. After filling in all the points in the application, it will need to be certified by a notary. Take a certified statement, attach it to the rest of the documents, take it to the registry office and write your statement. You will be told the possible dates of marriage registration and will be offered to choose one of them.
