As a rule, cribs are sold without a mattress. And again, parents are faced with a lot of questions: which mattress to choose, what to look for? And there really is something to think about - the sweet and calm sleep of the baby depends on a good mattress!
Instructions
Step 1
First, decide on the size: the dimensions of the mattress should ideally correspond to the dimensions of the crib, the standard parameters of which are 120x60, 125x65 and 140x70 cm.
Step 2
Children, especially babies, spend most of the day lying down - so filling the mattress is essential! Orthopedists and pediatricians recommend: the younger the child, the harder his bed should be. In this regard, a mattress filled with coconut coir (coconut fiber impregnated with natural latex) is ideal for newborns. This mattress is hard enough, hypoallergenic, well ventilated.
Step 3
For babies over a year old, orthopedic mattresses with springs are suitable. Just check with the seller if the spring block is "independent" - these are the springs that provide the mattress with durability, and the child - the correct position of the spine.
Step 4
Environmentally friendly materials from which mattress filling is often made - latex, polyurethane foam, holofiber. Taik mattresses are durable, elastic, heat-insulating, perfectly retain and restore their original shape.
Step 5
Often the filling of mattresses is combined - a layer of coconut flakes is applied to the spring base, or cotton, wool, buckwheat husk, sea grass, etc. are added to the latex base.
The best option is a double-sided mattress: one side is hard (made of coconut), and the other is softer (for example, made of polyurethane foam or latex foam). While the child is small, he sleeps on the hard surface of the mattress, and after a year the mattress turns over.
Step 6
It is better to refuse from foam and wadded mattresses, despite their cheapness - they are too soft and quickly lose their shape.
Step 7
The height of the mattress is of purely practical importance - the tall ones (8-12 cm) are more comfortable: it is easier to place the child.
Step 8
Pay attention also to the mattress topper or cover: it should be, preferably, removable (to avoid problems with washing), made of natural, hypoallergenic materials and have smooth seams.
