Many young mothers who are breastfeeding their baby once ask themselves the question: "Does he have enough milk?" Especially often this question appears in women when their breasts suddenly stop filling like before. In fact, breast size is not an indicator of the presence of milk in it. The breast is reduced when the body begins to produce as much milk as the baby eats. To determine whether a baby has enough milk, completely different criteria allow.
Instructions
Step 1
It is safe to say that the baby has enough breast milk if he urinates at least 6-8 times a day. Moreover, his urine should be almost colorless and have a slight odor. With the constant use of disposable diapers, it is rather difficult to determine the amount of urination of the crumbs. But if mommy has to change the diaper due to its fullness at least 4 times a day, everything is in order with the amount of milk consumed by the baby.
Step 2
Normal baby bowel movements also indicate a sufficient amount of breast milk in the mother. Ideally, it should be yellow, uniform, resembling thick sour cream in consistency, and smell like sour milk. As a rule, babies who have enough of their mother's milk stain their diapers 8-10 times a day. Although there are babies in whose bodies milk is digested so tightly that they "please" mom and dad only once every few days. Such situations can be considered the norm only if the child is not bothered by colic, or difficulties at the time of emptying the intestines, or a lag in weight and height. Lack of milk results in a denser consistency and darker colored stools.
Step 3
If the baby is gaining weight satisfactorily, he will definitely have enough breast milk. The lack of milk is evidenced by the fact that the child is gaining less than half a kilogram per month in the first six months of his life.
Step 4
If by the end of feeding the baby does not show signs of anxiety, begins to snore, lets go of the nipple and falls asleep, and at the same time the breast seems to be emptied, then he is definitely full.
Step 5
A child has enough mother's breast milk, if from one to another he can withstand a period of time of 1, 5-2 hours. In general, it is recommended to apply the baby to the chest at his first request, regardless of the real reason for his concern. Thus, you can not only calm the little caprice, but also significantly extend the period of full lactation.
