A skirt is an integral part of any woman's wardrobe. And every girl definitely wants to be like her mother, to try on her feminine outfits. Traditionally, the girl is especially interested in her mother's dresses and skirts. Moreover, a fluffy skirt has a magical property to turn any girl, girl and woman into a fairy-tale princess. If desired, a fluffy skirt for a girl can be sewn in one evening. Depending on the type and color of the fabric, such a skirt can become the basis of a costume for a princess, a flower, a fairy, a snowflake and even a ladybug.
If you are sewing a skirt for everyday wear, then pay attention to the warm, delicate colors of the fabric: peach, blue, milk, lilac, light green, yellow. These colors will refresh the little fashionista and emphasize her youth and natural beauty. Too dark colors (black, gray, purple, dark blue, dark green, burgundy, etc.) can add extra years to the girl.
It is necessary
fabric, scissors, soap or crayon, patterns, thread, sewing machine, elastic band, ruler, ribbons
Instructions
Step 1
To sew a fluffy skirt, purchase 2-3 m of fabric in advance. For these purposes, tulle, tulle, nylon, crepe satin and other similar fabrics are suitable. Taffeta will add solemnity to the image and will shimmer in the sun or in the light. If you are planning to sew a skirt for a party (not for everyday wear), then you can even use old tulle curtains. So you will not only save money, but also get rid of stale trash. The width of the fabric must be at least 140 cm to be sufficient for all tiers of the skirt. The stiffer the fabric, the fuller the skirt will be. Prepare various ribbons and ruffles in matching colors to decorate the skirt. Find in advance on the Internet patterns suitable for the growth of your girl.
Step 2
If a computer with Internet access is not at hand, then try to make a pattern yourself. Take whatman or special paper and put a dot in the upper left corner. From this point it is necessary to draw a horizontal line to the right and a vertical line straight down. Add 1 cm to half of your child's waist. Multiply the resulting figure by 1/3, then by another 2. Subtract 2 cm from the result.
Put a compass at the previously marked point, measure the required radius (obtained as a result of the above calculations), draw an arc, connecting the lines with it. Also, using a compass, mark the desired length of the skirt. Connect the horizontal and vertical beams with a smooth arc. Do not forget to add 3 cm to the hem and waist. This is necessary in order to further make a drawstring for the elastic on the upper tier and neatly bend (hem) the hem on the lower tier.
Step 3
Take the pattern. Fold the selected fabric 4 times, place the pattern on it (along the length of the fabric). Circle the pattern with a bar of soap, a crayon, or a felt-tip pen. Then start cutting stripes for the upper tiers of the skirt. Only then cut the stripes for the lower tier. If, according to your idea, ruffles and frills should be made of the same fabric, then cut them out. Roll up each piece carefully and place it on the work table.
Prepare crepe satin and cut out a strip of fabric from which you plan to sew a yoke in the future. To strengthen the yoke and glue it, cut out the same strip from the non-woven fabric. Thus, it will turn out to add another 5 cm to the yoke. Then take a pre-heated iron and glue the yoke with it along the long side, as well as along the upper and lower lines.
Step 4
The next stage is directly sewing the skirt. Sew the yoke into a ring (remember to leave a small hole so that you can insert the elastic). Take a ruler and measure from the middle of its short side 3 cm to each side. Mark these places with chalk, and then put a seam between them and iron it well.
Now you need to bend the yoke exactly in half with the right side out. Make sure that the halves of the yoke lie flat and do not protrude from each other. Only then step back 3 cm from the fold and sew the yoke. Step 5 mm from the previous line and sew the yoke again. Now you can safely iron the yoke.
Step 5
Start making ruffles for your skirt. Take the prepared fabric. If you decide that the ruffles will not be made from the main fabric for the skirt, then chiffon or organza will do. Fabric pleating can be done using a special gathering foot or by hand. The stripes need to be gathered and sewn together until you get two equally long ruffles.
Step 6
Take all the stripes for the top tier and sew them together. Then make a "ring" out of them, sew it. Do not forget to leave an allowance of 3 to 5 cm at the same time. Do the same with the lower tier. Decorate the edge of the lowest tier with one of the long pleated ruffles. It is best to use a sewing machine and overlap the frill with the right side.
There should be a free edge on the lower tier. Use the sewing foot to make a small gather on it. Then carefully sew the top tier with the bottom tier. Do not forget about the required 5 mm allowance.
Step 7
Sew a finishing tape between the tiers. Then take the free edge of the upper tier and make a small gathering on it using the sewing foot, as with the lower tier. Sew the edge of the upper tier to the outer edge of the yoke. After that, sew the lower tier (fabric of the lower skirt) to the inner edge of the yoke.
Step 8
In order to connect the upper and lower skirts together, as well as to make the yoke look more aesthetic, zigzag the edges of the yoke. Take an elastic band and thread it into the previously prepared hole on the yoke. Please note: the length of the elastic should be such that it does not overtighten the child's waist and does not leave red marks on it, but at the same time holds the skirt well. Now you can sew all kinds of decorative ribbons to the belt and tie a big beautiful bow out of them. The skirt for your girl is ready.
