Breastfeeding is a whole science

During lactation, a woman should be especially careful about her diet. This does not only apply to the elimination of food additives, spices, alcohol and caffeine. Some foods can cause an allergic reaction in the baby, which is expressed by a rash, green stools, a crust on the head, bloating, etc. If at least one of these signs appears, it is necessary to find out which foods are not perceived by the baby's body.

Citrus

Most often, allergies in newborns are caused by citrus fruits and berries. In the first two months of breastfeeding, it is best for the mother to keep them to a minimum. Starting from the third month, you can gradually introduce them into the diet, preferably one at a time, and observe the baby's reaction.

In the first months of lactation, it is better for a woman to completely exclude citrus fruits and chocolate from the diet, since they are the most allergenic.

Protein foods

In the first days after childbirth, it is better for a woman to refrain from eating cow's milk, eggs and fatty meat. The baby's body is still too weak to cope with them. If necessary, they can be eaten, but in limited quantities and taking care that they are environmentally friendly.

Sweets

In the first months of lactation, a nursing mother should protect herself from excessive consumption of sweets. Chocolate is very often the culprit for allergic reactions in newborns. The same applies to honey, although it is very useful, it is better to wait with it for at least three to four months.

Excessive intake of carbohydrates

Quite often, the occurrence of allergies is associated with the presence in the mother's food of a large amount of carbohydrates, presented in the form of sucrose and starch, which are difficult for the child's body to assimilate. It is better for a nursing mother not to excessively consume sweet pastries; an alternative may be brown bread made from wholemeal flour.

Hereditary allergy

When breastfeeding, a woman needs to be especially careful with foods that cause allergies in her and the child's father. This can be inherited to the kid. It is often very difficult to guess what the body of the crumbs will reject. These can be the simplest and seemingly safe products. The main thing is to identify them in time and completely exclude them from the diet.

If the baby's mom or dad has an allergic reaction to any foods, it is better to completely exclude them from the diet during breastfeeding.

What must be present in the diet?

A nursing mother must eat up to 150 grams of cottage cheese, about 200 grams of fish or lean meat per day, and also drink a liter of fermented milk products. It is also advisable to consume a lot of liquid, for example, a weak herbal tea.
