Once your little one has learned to hold a cookie or crouton in their little pen, you can start preparing them for self-feeding. Try to teach your baby to eat with a spoon. Indeed, one fine day he himself will try to snatch it out of your hands.
Instructions
Step 1
Allow your little one to eat on their own as soon as they want to. It may happen that if you miss such an important moment, then you will be forced to feed the baby for quite some time. Having got used to being fed, the baby becomes uninteresting to master the spoon. Some children try to pick it up as early as six to seven months, while others are not ready to learn how to use this cutlery on their own after a year. Most importantly, try not to rush things, but proceed from the desires of the crumbs, taking into account its capabilities. In most cases, by the end of the first year of life, the baby himself begins to take away the spoon from his mother, trying to take the initiative into his own hands.
Step 2
Buy a suitable sized cutlery of a convenient shape and a special children's plate with a double bottom for your baby. It will be needed so that during feeding the food does not cool down quickly (hot water is poured into the second bottom). Holding the child's handle in yours, show how to properly bring the spoon to the mouth without turning it over. Be sure to praise your baby for showing initiative and successful actions. Never scold a crumb for unsuccessful attempts.
Step 3
At first, you will have to come to terms with the fact that the crumb will get dirty itself, and will stain everything around. Despite the fact that it is still very difficult for the baby to be neat, do not be upset, but rather think over a "special clothing" for feeding him. You will now take much more time to eat, so be patient. After all, every time the crumbs will get more accurate and better.
