Most adults react irritably to children's tears and want the crying baby to calm down sooner. In any way.

Such an attitude on the part of adults is forgivable for those who are not directly related to the upbringing of a child. But for mom, there is a serious task ahead: to find out the cause of crying as soon as possible and immediately eliminate it.

Do not forget that the function of crying in infants and older children is different. Children under two years of age begin to cry for the following reasons:

  • want to eat
  • you need to change the diaper,
  • the child is cold or hot,
  • require attention
  • wants to sleep,
  • something hurts.

Most likely, the most difficult task will be to determine what hurts the child. Moms can discern what each cry means. In pain, it is continuous and even. The most common cause is colic and teeth. If, nevertheless, it was not possible to find out what hurts the child, then you should consult a doctor.

With children over two years old, the situation is a little easier. The child can already talk a little and understand your questions. Therefore, it is easier to understand his needs. But there is also a downside to the coin - whims and tantrums are becoming more frequent, which are used as a means of manipulation.

But not all crying is manipulation. When a child falls or accidentally breaks his favorite toy, or another child offended, this is a real reason to cry. For the little ones, this is even a whole grief. In such cases, the baby just needs to cry. Do not distract him, do not reassure and do not shame, and moreover, do not ask questions or persuade him, just be there, wrap him in protection and silent attention, pick him up and hug him. At this moment, the child has a responsible process, the baby is freed from unwanted experiences. You can also talk later, when the emotions subside, the breathing will even out, and the tears will dry up.

If you have undergone targeted manipulation (hysterical until he gets what he wants), then the best thing you can do in such a situation is ignoring. The child should understand that you will talk to him after he has completely calmed down.

You can leave him alone for a while. The child arranges a theater for one spectator, and if he is not there, then the performance is canceled. And over time, your child will understand that he will not achieve anything in this way, and in the future the child will stop resorting to such methods.
