Dear mothers! Before surfing the Internet or running to the store for children's shoes, you need to remember that small legs have peculiarities. The most important advice from podiatrists and experienced mums is for you!

Small legs have features:

  • they often sweat (therefore, especially closed shoes, should have an absorbent liner / insole),
  • they like to jump on the asphalt (the outsole must have shock-absorbing properties - it reduces the risk of deformation of the foot),
  • they like to run a lot - on average 18-20 thousand steps per day (the weight of the shoes is as little as possible, and the flexibility of the sole is as much as possible),
  • the legs are still forming and growing (good fixation is important - always a high dense heel with a soft roller on top, even for sandals; the top of the shoe should securely fix the leg - laces or Velcro - the main thing is to fix it to the ankle).

Special attention is paid to the instep support. Even if there is no orthopedic recommendation, it is important and plays a preventive role - it prevents the development of flat feet. The instep support should be exactly in the socket of the child's foot - which means it's time to choose the size!

From the tip of the thumb to the edge of the boot, there should be a 1.5 cm margin, and the tip of your little toe should fit in the back (near the Achilles tendon). The "free" distance will enable the foot to develop correctly (it is convenient to walk, the toes move and do not rest + "allowance" for growth during the season).

"Grandmothers advise to buy 2 sizes larger" - NO! So the child's leg is not fixed, the instep supports are not used, the child is not comfortable, and by the next season the leg may grow much more than you expected, and you will have to buy shoes again, and so much suffering is in vain …

There are many different models of non-soaking children's shoes on sale, however, you cannot do without rubber boots in the spring! Children's boots are usually a rubber overshoe and a top made of raincoat or other waterproof fabric. A variety of colors and patterns will satisfy the requirements of even the most skilled fashionista.

By the way, it is better to buy and try on shoes in the evening - the foot increases by about 5-8%.

And a little secret of saving: if you find good shoes in a store, ask them to put them off for a couple of hours and look at the same model in online stores … Often, it helps to save 500-1000 rubles.

Let only spring be in your thoughts, and let your baby rejoice in puddles and warmth!
