When it comes to predicting the color of a baby's eyes, one thing is certain: the baby will be born with blue eyes. By about 3-4 years of age, the baby's eyes usually acquire their formed and permanent color, which remains for life, be it blue, amber, gray, green, hazel or dark brown.

Eye color inheritance is scientifically possible. There is a well-established belief that baby's eye color is inherited according to Mendel's laws. Consequently, according to this law, eye color can be inherited in almost the same way as hair color: the dark genes are dominant, that is, the distinctive features (phenotypes) encoded by them will take precedence over the distinctive features that are lighter in color.
