Responsibility, hard work, discipline - all these skills do not develop in a person just like that. It is necessary to pay special attention to their formation, and this is precisely what labor education is aimed at.
Younger school age (6-10 years old) is the most favorable period for the formation of skills and qualities necessary in adulthood. Children in particular should be noted because too little attention is paid to it.
Labor education is a specially organized involvement of a child in socially useful labor situations (or simulated situations) in order to develop general labor skills.
Directions
Psychological readiness for work. Here, first of all, we are talking about the arbitrariness of activity. Ideally, the aspect of arbitrariness should be fully formed by the age of 6-7, when the child enters school. One of the most important psychological problems of arbitrariness is the ability to control hand movements, that is, write, draw and operate with objects. Already in senior preschool age, children should be able to act according to requirements or in accordance with their goal, be able to plan and predict the results of their own activities. This skill continues to form and develop in early school age, when the actions of children should become more accurate and productive.
Practical awareness. Children should have basic knowledge of the properties of materials and the possibilities of their use. This aspect of upbringing has a beneficial effect on the child's intelligence and on his thinking (visual-figurative and visual-effective). The formation of such personal qualities as accuracy, attentiveness and discipline is assumed.
How to develop
For the most part, children develop work skills in school, namely, in technology lessons, where they are taught the skills of work, self-care and creative problem-solving. But the efforts of school teachers are not enough, because most of the work skills are formed at home.
Children in adulthood copy the behavior of their parents. Based on their work activities, the child receives his own ideas about work and self-service. If the boy's father, coming home from work, sits in front of the TV and demands from his wife to fulfill all his requests, then the boy will think that it is absolutely normal that his future wife should be his servant. Or, if a girl sees that her mother ignores the accumulating dirt in the apartment, then in the future it will be very difficult for her to become an exemplary hostess. Remember that most behaviors come from the family. Demonstrate housework skills. Every person is capable of making tea with a sandwich, for this you do not need service personnel. Just show that there is nothing strange about self-service.
Even the lightest, focused not only on the needs of the child, but also on the needs of the whole family, help him to realize the full importance of socially useful activity. Yes, a junior schoolchild is unlikely to be able to provide really significant help, but this does not mean that until adolescence, he must do only his own business all day. No, even the smallest assignments will significantly affect his future love of work. Instruct him to wipe the table, feed the cat, sweep the corridor, etc.
One of the most effective ways to develop work skills in younger students is through games. Buy as many games as possible related to household chores for your child. For a girl, it can be a toy oven, for a boy, a set of instruments. Games associated with various professional roles have a positive effect on the child: doctor, firefighter, veterinarian, etc. In addition, the motivational sphere develops in the game. The child not only learns some actions, but also forms a love of work, and, as a result, a high level of motivation.
Remember to prepare children to cope with the challenges of adulthood. Teach them, develop in them an awareness of the need and responsibility for their actions. And then an adult child will thank you!
