There are many myths and legends about the dangers of sexual activity while carrying a child. However, gynecologists say that everything is individual. There are a number of recommendations that will allow the expectant mother to avoid unpleasant consequences.
Sex during pregnancy
Some women refuse to have sex during pregnancy, while others, on the contrary, want to have sex as often as possible. Gynecologists say that sex will not bring any harm to the baby in the womb. Therefore, there is no need to limit oneself in pleasure.
The fetus is reliably protected by amniotic fluid and a bladder, the cervix is closed by a special mucous plug. No matter how violently you make love, you will not be able to get to the embryo. In addition, there is an opinion that the seminal fluid prepares the cervix well for the upcoming birth. Sperm softens the uterus and makes it elastic. Therefore, sex is especially beneficial in late pregnancy.
Choose lovemaking positions that are comfortable for both partners. It is not recommended for the expectant mother to lie on her back during sex, so you will have to choose other positions (woman on top, on her side or on all fours). Try not to pinch your stomach. It is necessary to take into account another important point, especially in the last weeks of bearing a child. During orgasm, oxytocin is released into the blood, this hormone prepares the cervix for childbirth, so it can provoke contractions.
In the first trimester, men experience the same sexual attraction to their partner as they did before conception. But in recent months, the desire is somewhat weakening. This does not mean that he considers you unattractive. Such a change in sex life is due to the fear of harming the baby. Perhaps the dad-to-be is worried about the health of the unborn child and your health. In this case, oral sex can be a good way out, which is safe for your baby and for you.
When should you abstain from sex?
It is advised to be careful if you have just learned about pregnancy. The thing is that the female body perceives the ovum as a foreign body, therefore, a tone may appear in the uterus. For the first two months, it is recommended to treat your body carefully, to exclude sex life, sauna, physical activity and sudden movements. If the embryo implantation is not low, there is no uterine tone, the pregnant woman does not complain about anything, then the restrictions on sexual activity are removed.
You should refrain from sex in the following cases:
- the presence of uterine contractions (contractions);
- bleeding;
- leakage of amniotic fluid;
- placenta previa;
- incompetence of the cervix (with previous pregnancies).
Also, your doctor may prohibit you from making love if your partner has genital herpes. If during pregnancy you become infected with this disease, then there is a high probability that this will affect the further development of the child.
