The drug "Kogitum" has proved itself quite well as a general tonic. However, when using it in pediatric therapy, the recommendations for use should be carefully followed.

Indications for use

The instruction for the drug "Cogitum" indicates that it should be used to provide a general tonic effect on the body, which may be required, for example, in the event of asthenic conditions of various etiologies. For example, a doctor may prescribe a “Cogitum” if a child is weak after an illness, gets tired quickly after school, suffers from a general deterioration in mood and similar symptoms.

In all these cases, taking "Kogitum" can have a positive effect on the child, removing or significantly reducing the intensity of the manifestation of such symptoms. In addition, the drug is used as part of complex therapy in the treatment of more serious conditions, such as depression.

Mode of application

The drug "Kogitum" is considered a safe drug, therefore it is produced in a single dosage form for both adults and children. The standard form of release of this medication is in glass ampoules, packed in boxes of 30 pieces. Each ampoule contains 10 ml of medication, the intake of which ensures the ingestion of 25 mg of the active ingredient - potassium acetylaminosuccinate.

The preparation is intended for direct ingestion undiluted and has a pleasant banana flavor that children like. In addition, if necessary, it can be diluted with water and consumed in such a diluted form: this will not affect the effectiveness of the drug.

The maximum daily dose of the drug depends on the age of the child to whom the treatment is prescribed. So, I usually use it in the treatment of children who have reached the age of seven. In this case, if a child taking "Cogitum" is from 7 to 10 years old, it will be enough for him to use one ampoule of medicine in the morning. For children aged 10 to 18 years, this dose should be increased to 2 ampoules, which are also recommended to be taken in the morning.

At the same time, the treatment process is not accompanied by the emergence of addiction, therefore, according to the doctor's prescription, it can be interrupted at any time without any negative consequences. The average duration of taking the drug to achieve a sustained effect is usually about 3 weeks. If during the course of treatment you accidentally forgot to give the child another dose of medicine or there was simply no such opportunity, the treatment should be continued by giving him the usual amount of medicine the next day: there is no need to increase the dose in such a situation.
