Until recently, the child was docile and obedient, but now he cannot be recognized. Continuous whims, often developing into whole tantrums, happen not only at home, but also on the street, at a party, in a store. Parents are lost, not knowing what to do.
Instructions
Step 1
The first whims, as an inevitable stage of growing up a baby, appear at about two years old. Remember that the formation of the child's character, and therefore his future, largely depends on the method that you choose to deal with whims.
Step 2
First of all, try to figure out the reason for the whim. There are four main reasons. The first is that the baby is not feeling well. The baby is in pain, but he cannot complain of the pain, because he does not yet understand how to explain it. In this case, talk to the baby and try to find out what is happening to him. The child may need the help of a doctor.
Step 3
The second reason is the desire to attract attention that the baby lacks. He simply does not know any other way to do this. Even if you have a lot of other things to do, and the baby is naughty several times a day, talk to him. It is very important for a child that you hear him. You will see how his tantrums will subside, because the baby will understand that you love him. Never call a child "naughty" or "bad." This will only aggravate the situation. The crumb needs love from you, not reproaches.
Step 4
The third reason for whims is blackmail. The child realized that a lot can be achieved from parents with loud roars and tears, and began to actively use this knowledge. Do not be offended by your baby, because you yourself are to blame for this, without showing firmness in time, you began to indulge the child in everything. But remember that firmness is not frequent punishments and categorical prohibitions, but a heart-to-heart talk with your baby. Without yelling, calmly explain to your child that you did not allow him to climb a high hill, only because you can fall from it and hurt you, and not because you don’t want him to have fun. To keep the baby from violent manifestations of feelings in the store, discuss the conditions with him in advance. For example: “We go to the store for milk and bread, we will not buy anything else this time. I know you are upset. Promise you won't cry anymore."
Step 5
The fourth reason is over-parenting. Remember that depriving a child of independence in most cases is the main reason for children's whims. Do not constantly dictate to your child how to behave: "Do not touch a dirty cat!", Do not get into a puddle! " etc. Of course, you are acting with the best intentions, but the kid does not understand the reasons for the ban, because you do not explain anything. The crumb becomes very offended and he resists. Do not break the core of independence in a crumb, making it weak-willed and weak. Do not forbid the baby everything. Give him the opportunity to gain his own experience with a couple of bumps. When you prohibit a child that is really not allowed (dangerous to life and health), clearly explain the reason for the prohibition.
Step 6
If the baby does not want to listen to any explanations, is stubborn, insisting on his own, do not make concessions and be strict. When you see that the baby is about to throw a tantrum, distract him as soon as possible: try to switch his attention, tell something interesting, play with him. Tell your child how upset he is with his whims. In no case do not fight them with all your adult authority, so as not to cripple the baby's psyche. Remembering that whims are an inevitable stage in the development of your baby, find the right approach to them.
