Proper breathing can prevent many diseases. The air passing through the nose is humidified, warmed up, excess dust particles and microbes also settle here. This is a kind of defense mechanisms of the body. If a child breathes through his mouth, then he receives only 15% of the required volume of oxygen - he experiences constant oxygen starvation. Also, the correct differentiation of the nasal and oral expiration is necessary for the correct formulation of sounds and phonation of speech.
It is necessary
- - consultation of an ENT doctor;
- - adenocomy;
- - consultation with a speech therapist;
- - special breathing exercises;
- - pre-orthodontic trainer.
Instructions
Step 1
Get examined by an ENT doctor. The doctor will identify possible causes of nasal breathing disorders. This can be a curvature of the nasal septum, polyps, adenoids. Based on the results of the examination, you will be offered conservative or surgical treatment (adenocomy or removal of polyps). It is better to combine drug treatment with physiotherapy (laser therapy or ultraviolet irradiation).
Step 2
See a speech therapist for nasal breathing. You will be offered a special breathing exercise: take 10 breaths / breaths through the right and then the left nostril (about 4-6 seconds), taking turns closing one of the nostrils with your thumb. Another exercise: while inhaling, resist the air by pressing your fingers on the wings of the nose.
Step 3
Try to turn off mouth breathing by lifting the tip of the tongue to the hard palate. Take a calm breath, then as you exhale, tap your fingers on the wings of the nose and at the same time pronounce the syllables ba-bo-bu. Train correct abdominal breathing at the same time. Gymnastics not only teaches you to breathe correctly, but is also useful for setting sounds in children with rhinolalia.
Step 4
If gymnastics doesn't work for you, try a pre-orthodontic trainer. The child is put on a blue pre-orthodontic trainer for one hour during the day and for the whole night, and before that, the nose "IRS19" is buried. If you have patience and support the child, then after three months nasal breathing will be restored. At first, the child may lose the trainer at night and wake up without the device. This is a common situation, this happens because the muscle surrounding the mouth is very weak at first and cannot keep the apparatus in the mouth at night. After a while, this problem will disappear. Breathing will recover sooner if you wear the device every day. Caring for the trainer is very simple, just wash it with warm water after each wear and store it in a special clean box.
