A highchair is a necessary piece of furniture for a baby. There are many different models, and they are united by the presence of a cover. Since a child cannot always be neat, and you want to keep the appearance of the highchair neat, a cover for it is simply necessary.

As a rule, each chair initially has a cover, but when it was not provided by the manufacturer or became unusable, for example, it was torn, you can sew the cover yourself.

Material selection

The choice of material for sewing the cover plays an important role. Firstly, it should not be easily soiled, preferably not absorbing water, so that it is easier to wash it; secondly, it is hypoallergenic, since the child will be in daily contact with this material. It is best to use oilcloth materials.

It is also important to remember about the padding for the cover, if the chair is too hard, the child will not be comfortable, and the process of eating will become unpleasant for him. A synthetic winterizer is best suited for stuffing.

The new case is modeled on the old

This method is suitable for those cases when the cover already available on the highchair has been damaged, for example, a child has made a hole in it. In this case, everything is pretty simple. It is enough to remove the spoiled cover from the chair, to open all the seams on it. Then spread it out on a large sheet of paper and circle it with a pencil. Using this pattern, you need to make a pattern from a new material. It is best to make a pattern, leaving a 1-2 cm margin for the seams. Next, sew the cover following the example of the old one and fill it with padding. You can take into account some of the disadvantages of the previous case, if any, and refine them. For example, the cover was too big and slid over the chair, in which case it is worth reducing 1-2 cm along the edges of the pattern.

If there was no cover

There are chairs on sale that do not initially have a cover. As a rule, these are wooden chairs. To preserve the appearance of the tree as long as possible, you will have to sew a cover. To do this, you will need material directly for the cover, padding (it is better to take it in large quantities to ensure sufficient softness) and a large piece of any thin fabric. The fabric is needed in order to put it in the chair, shape it and circle it - so it becomes clear how the pattern for the cover should look like. From this template, the pattern is transferred to the material for the cover. At the same time, we must not forget about the gaps on the seams - they should be 3-4 cm, taking into account the further filling with padding. In order for the cover to be attached to the back, you can sew on ribbons and tie them in the future, or provide the cover with rivets. You can also sew a separate pocket, then you need to provide a pattern option when the cover is put on over the back.
