Urticaria is, perhaps, a common occurrence in childhood, which is accompanied by a rash and unpleasant itching. This can be due to different allergens, but to be sure your little one really has hives, you should be aware of its characteristic symptoms.
If any suspicious blisters appear on the child's skin, and the rash on different parts of the body causes itching, do not be afraid, since, most likely, you are dealing with ordinary hives.
According to statistics, urticaria suddenly "pleases" every fourth child with its appearance. It is essentially an allergic disease that is most commonly seen in children under the age of three. With proper and timely treatment, urticaria is not dangerous, it goes away painlessly and quickly.
What does urticaria look like in children?
To be sure your child is having this allergic reaction, see if they have any of the following symptoms:
- a rash located on different parts of the body;
- various shapes and sizes of the rash;
- the color of the rash is pale pink or bright red;
- the rash is accompanied by itching;
- after pressing, light spots form on the blisters;
- with scratching, the blisters instantly increase, merging with each other and becoming covered with a bloody crust;
- the rash appears and disappears literally suddenly, leaving no traces.
The rash is usually located in the folds of the skin, on the lips and in the areas where the baby's clothes come into contact with the skin the most. As a rule, urticaria in one place disappears after a couple of hours or a maximum of two days, to suddenly appear on another area of the skin.

Urticaria is the body's response to any active allergen, while a large amount of histamine is produced in the child's body, as a result of which the vessels become thinner, and the fluid is directed into the skin. This is where watery blisters and swelling occur.
The causes of this kind of allergic reaction are individual. Medicines, food, external irritants, insect bites and perfumes can serve as an allergen.
Urticaria occurs immediately after a child comes into contact with an irritant. In order to identify and then eliminate the cause, you just need to remember what the baby did and what he ate. It is possible that your child has been exposed to extreme cold or has been bitten by an insect. In any case, you should not postpone treatment, because such a reaction of the body can provoke the appearance of a serious illness in the future.
