Preeclampsia of pregnant women is a pathological condition that manifests itself in increased blood pressure, swelling, fluid retention in tissues, rapid weight gain, and the appearance of protein in the urine. Late toxicosis complicates the supply of nutrients to the fetus, negatively affects the liver, kidneys and brain of the pregnant woman.
The causes of preeclampsia are not fully understood, more often doctors indicate genetic abnormalities, problems in the formation of the placenta, improper diet and regimen, the presence of chronic diseases.
There are such risk factors for the development of preeclampsia as preeclampsia in past pregnancies, heredity, chronic hypertension, kidney disease, thrombophilia, diabetes mellitus and other autoimmune diseases, multiple pregnancies, late and early age, obesity.
Preeclamapsia manifests itself with the following symptoms: severe persistent headaches, double vision and blurred eyes, pain in the upper abdomen, dizziness, sudden weight gain, swelling, nausea and vomiting in late pregnancy.
Treatment of preeclampsia is impossible, but most of the manifestations of preeclampsia can be controlled. Regular examinations of the pregnant woman are carried out by the attending physician, blood and urine tests are taken. The motor activity of a woman should be limited, perhaps the appointment of drugs that lower blood pressure.
In severe cases of preeclampsia, hospitalization is required. When gestation is less than 34 weeks, corticosteroids are prescribed, the use of which helps the baby's lungs to form faster. If necessary, labor is stimulated ahead of schedule.
