Basically, children from the first days of life sleep well both during the day and at night. But there are also babies whose parents cannot boast of peaceful nights. In order for your child to sleep better, it is necessary to adhere to certain principles of behavior.

Instructions

Step 1

Don't dramatize the situation! Firstborns in most cases sleep worse than their younger siblings later on. Take it easy, newborns can wake up several times a night, but at the same time they can fall asleep on their own, whimpering a little. If you consider each night awakening a cause for concern, then the baby will involuntarily adjust to the general alarming background.

Step 2

Make sure your baby has enough milk. Check your baby's weight monthly or once a week. Because, perhaps, the reason for the anxiety of the baby and poor sleep is due to insufficient lactation in the mother.

Step 3

Deal with colic. Talk to your pediatrician about what medications are best for you. But first, try to do without them, for example, use a gas pipe, massage your abdomen, or apply warm diapers to it.

Step 4

Do not touch or kiss your baby while sleeping. Leave all manifestations of love and affection for the waking period, because this will interrupt the baby's sleep. Make a night's sleep a priority for the whole family. If the whole apartment is plunged into sleep, then the baby will fall asleep.

Step 5

Create a bedtime ritual, such as buying a baby or having a massage before doing it. When bathing the baby, dim the light, talk to him in a gentle, quiet voice. Dry your baby with gentle stroking movements, as if you were giving him a massage. After a couple of weeks of such exercises, your baby will sleep without nighttime awakenings and moods.

Step 6

Turn off the lights when putting your baby to bed, as even the smallest lighting interferes with the production of melatonin in the body. For very anxious and fearful kids, turn on dim nightlights or leave a light in the back room and keep the door to the nursery ajar. Under no circumstances use the light from the screen of a working TV or computer, it can scare the baby with its flickering in the dark.
