Gossip can sometimes ruin a person's life. They provoke quarrels and can lead to separations and dismissals from work. In order not to become another victim of chatty tongues, you need to learn how to deal with gossip.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not get angry, let alone quarrel with gossips, do not make scandals. Otherwise, pretty soon they will talk about you as an unbalanced, spiteful, or even mentally ill person. In addition, trying to stop gossip in this way will lead to a worsening of the situation: realizing that you are trying to protect yourself, gossipers will see in your life and person an even more attractive subject for discussion than before.
Step 2
Ignore gossip and yourself never participate in discussions about the actions, personal life and appearance of friends, family and colleagues. If you don't pay attention to your gossip colleagues or talk to them exclusively on work topics, they will lag behind you after a while. The same goes for friends and family: do not support other people's chatter. At the same time, do not pretend that you are hiding something and do not allow ambiguous situations so that they are not misinterpreted.
Step 3
Do not follow the lead of gossips and do not succumb to their provocations. For example, if you find out that coworkers or acquaintances condemn your way of dressing, do not rush to the shops to update your wardrobe and do not change your image. Pretend that you have not heard anything at all and do not know what is being said about you behind your back. Otherwise, you will remain a constant subject of gossip.
Step 4
Be discreet and watch your behavior when in the company of people who like to gossip. Don't talk more about yourself and your life than you should. You can even pretend to be a gray mouse that has absolutely nothing interesting in it. Gossipers will lag behind you pretty quickly.
Step 5
If unpleasant gossip about you has already spread, try to make sure that the talkers have nothing to discuss. For example, if colleagues are talking about your new romance, stop giving them new information about your personal life: do not talk to your significant other on the phone in the office, avoid situations where chatters can see you together, etc.
