Many children are frightened from childhood with stories that supposedly Arabs are evil and cruel and that they often have tyrant husbands in their family, and their wives have no rights and they have to serve their husbands, stay at home and give birth to children.
Most of the facts we know about the East are too exaggerated and misleading. For example, among Eastern people, mothers are considered to be the unofficial leader of the family. Men, on the other hand, perform the functions of patrons and protectors. All family members listen to and respect the informal leader, and moreover, before making an important decision, it is required to ask the opinion of the eldest wife. Nothing can be done without her permission. Men are supposed to be gentle with their relatives and wives.
In eastern countries, children are very fond of. They are beautifully dressed up and often pampered with gifts. Among the Arabs, it is considered normal for a stranger to treat a child with candy on the street. However, children are forbidden to be capricious and disobey their parents. Boys are raised as men from childhood. So, in Iraq, if they wish, parents can send their son to a military school, where they teach not only ordinary subjects, but also how to handle weapons.
Of course, an Arab can beat his wife, but this happens no more often than among other peoples. However, the Qur'an says that heaven is only available to good husbands who take care of their wives. Also, in countries where there are many Arabs, women are supposed to be respected. Those who do not understand this have a hard time. The fact is that Arabs are friends with all their relatives and they have very large families. So, if a husband hits his wife at least once, then she can tell all her relatives about it, and after that they will come to the man and intercede for their relative.
The Arabs, like other peoples, often have difficulties. Do not assume that they are doing well, as all countries have their pros and cons, as well as unhappy families. Nevertheless, it makes sense to familiarize yourself with the foundations of other peoples and think about what is worth learning from them.
