Potty training is not such a scary process as many people think. It is worth remembering that the older the child, the faster he will understand what and why the pot is needed, and how to use it for its intended purpose.
The training process should begin with the familiarization of the child with the potty. It is necessary to put the pot on the floor in a place visible to the baby. Let the child just get used to it for several days, as to a new object in the room. Perhaps the baby will play with him, put toys in him, etc. You should not interfere with this.
Then you can start planting the child on the pot, first for a minute or two, then longer. Naturally, the first time the child is unlikely to do his thing in the pot, let him just sit. Children are usually not assiduous creatures, therefore, having seated the child on the potty, you can read books to him, play with him. As soon as the baby pees, you need to praise him, but not too violently, otherwise the child will switch to your emotions and soon forget what you praised him for. If the baby refuses to sit on the pot, then it is not worth holding him there by force, this will only cause dislike and rejection in the child from the pot.
In the process of getting used to the potty, the child will write in his pants, on the floor, on the bed … There is no need to scold the child for this. Also, you do not need to focus the child's attention on the puddle he has made, because this is also not the best option. You just need to calmly tell him that he is already big, so he must go to the toilet in a certain place. In this case, you can bring him to the pot.
The accustoming process can be quite lengthy. It may take not a week, or even two, but a couple of months (it all depends on the age of the child and the behavior of the parents). But, in the end, the kid will learn all the lessons and will regularly visit his "plastic friend" and not at all to play with him.
