Somewhere after 6-7 months, when the baby firmly and confidently sits on the chair, the most pressing issue for the mother is the choice of the pot and teaching the child to it.
At the age of 6-7 months, the baby is just learning to delay the urge to urinate and defecate. He is not yet able to fully consciously control his desires. And often, when parents try to land the little one on the pot, he arches and resists sitting on it.
You need to listen to your child. It is usually good to catch him at the moment when he just woke up or 15 minutes after eating, before walking, before taking a bath or immediately after.
If the baby wants to poop, then he will show it with his groaning. With "big" cases, it is much easier to catch him, since often at this age they are performed 1-2 times a day and at the same time.
If a child is accustomed to being at home in a diaper, then in order not to injure his psyche, you can first sit him on the pot right in the diaper, for a few minutes, and then for a longer time. Once he gets used to sitting on the potty, the diaper can be removed.
And you should never force him to be on the pot. If he doesn't like it, then you can try to drop him off over a basin or bath. Often, such planting is popular with mothers whose children are not yet sitting on their own.
By catching the baby, at the moment when he has "small" or "large" physiological needs, you can develop his habit of emptying on the pot. Since this is a fairly long process, the child will be able to start asking himself only closer to the year. Therefore, many pediatricians recommend starting to plant a child on a pot in the period from 1, 5 to 2 years, so that the baby can consciously master this skill.
And do not despair if you cannot catch the baby, and constant puddles on the floor and wet sliders prevent you from “living”. Sooner or later, your baby will start using the pot on his own. The main thing is not to dwell on this problem, but to talk to the child, not to scold him for mistakes, but rather to explain.
