Blood pressure in a child

Modern parents do not have sufficient information about the reasons for the increase or decrease in blood pressure, and sometimes there are even situations when there are no visible symptoms of these changes occurring in the child's body. In order to learn how to diagnose a problem and treat a baby, you need to understand in more detail the causes of this kind of ailment.

Usually, children's blood pressure is slightly lower than that of adults. This is due to the fact that blood vessels in children are more elastic. It is worth noting that the baby's pressure changes in proportion to his age, in other words, the younger the child's age, the lower the value of his blood pressure.

Human pressure is indicated by numbers that have two meanings. The first speaks of the state of a person's upper pressure, it is also called systolic, which shows the result of the maximum pressure exerted by the flow of blood on the walls of the vessels. The second value is the lower pressure, or diastolic, it shows, on the contrary, the minimum value at the moment of relaxation of the heart.

It is customary to use one of two traditional methods to measure pressure. The first, which is the most accurate, is the process of introducing a needle with a manometer into the vessel. This method is called invasive. It is quite painful, so it is not suitable for children. The second method involves the use of a special tonometer apparatus and the unique Korotkov method. This option is great for self-measuring blood pressure at home, and it does not deliver absolutely any painful or unpleasant sensations.

What are the values of children's blood pressure

The normal value of blood pressure is 120 to 80. This figure is standard and generally accepted, but sometimes the rate can take on other values and deviate in different directions. It depends on the individual characteristics of each person's body and, of course, on age.

Child pressure must be calculated using standard formulas. For example, the normal pressure of infants is considered the value: 76 + 2x / 46 + 2x, where "x" is the age, calculated in months, for children who are already 90 + 2x / 60 + x, only in this case "x" will be have a value equal to the number of full years the child turns. In addition to the above factors, the rate may vary depending on the height, complexion of the child and the structure of the body. Thus, the blood pressure of tall and overweight children is usually higher than normal, by about 10 percent and vice versa.
