In some cases, a woman cannot understand exactly what her pregnancy is and when she will give birth. To calculate these dates, there are special methods that can be used both by doctors and by pregnant women themselves at home.
Instructions
Step 1
See your gynecologist. He will be able to make an accurate calculation based on the date of your last menstrual period, as well as the size of the baby, determined on the ultrasound. Also, the doctor takes into account the size of the uterus. The 12 cm long uterus is approximately the third month of pregnancy.
Step 2
Get tested for the hCG hormone. It appears in a woman's body during embryo implantation and the amount of the hormone increases daily. It is the level of hCG that determines pregnancy when using home tests, since it is detected in the urine. This analysis is especially convenient in the very early stages, up to 6-8 weeks of pregnancy. For the first week after conception, the hCG level is 150 mU / ml, and at the eighth week - approximately 70,000 mU / ml. Please note that a deviation in the indicators may mean an unusual situation during pregnancy. Too low levels of hCG and its slow growth may indicate the risk of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, and much higher than the norm - pregnancy with twins or triplets.
Step 3
Calculate the term yourself. To do this, check the date of your last period. From them, the gestational age is calculated in weeks. It turns out the so-called obstetric term, which may differ from the date of conception. Normally, childbirth occurs in the fortieth or forty-second week of the obstetric period, that is, from the last menstruation. However, in some cases, they may occur earlier or be delayed due to prolonged pregnancy. Even a doctor cannot predict the exact date of onset of labor.
Step 4
Determine the term by the size of the abdomen and the movement of the baby. The abdomen usually becomes visible in the fourth month, and the child begins to move noticeably for the mother at 18-20 weeks of development. If a woman is not pregnant for the first time, then most likely she will feel the movement earlier.
