Find out which instant messaging, voice, or video service the person with whom you intend to communicate is using. If he does not use any of them, ask him in advance (for example, by phone or email) to register with one of these services. The choice of service should suit both subscribers.

If you decide to communicate in real time using text messages, use one of the following services: Jabber, Google Talk, ICQ, Mail. Ru Agent, Ya. Online. All of them, except for ICQ and the Agent, use the XMPP protocol (traditional or modified), and their subscribers can communicate with each other directly. And with the subscribers of the remaining services, they can communicate through special gateways called transports.
Step 4
To organize a virtual telephone or video telephone communication, use the Skype service. If both subscribers get access to it via the Internet, then you will not need to pay for anything other than access to the Internet. You can exchange text messages at the same time or instead of talking.

Finally, if your interlocutor is the owner of an amateur shortwave radio station, do not be lazy and follow all the formalities necessary in order to also obtain permission to operate such a radio station. Your conversation can be overheard by everyone, you can only communicate on topics defined by special regulations, but, if there is a passage, at any distance and directly, bypassing the Internet.
