Sooner or later, there comes a time in every family when it is necessary to teach children to sleep separately from their parents. This process is different for everyone, because every child is different.
Instructions
Step 1
Ideally, you need to teach your child to sleep separately at a very early age, when habits are just beginning to form. Often, many parents themselves teach their children that someone should sleep with them when they continue to go to bed with already matured children. It is desirable that the child initially had a separate room or a separate bed. Do not teach him to sleep with his parents. Place the baby in his own crib immediately after feeding, so he will develop the habit of sleeping there.
Step 2
If the child is already older and you need to teach him to sleep in his own room, this method will not help. At 2-3 years old, the child already understands everything and realizes his role in the family. All children are different, and only parents know exactly how to influence a child. For example, you can explain to a baby that he is already big, that adults should sleep in their rooms, that parents should have a separate bedroom.
Step 3
To prevent your child from feeling lonely at night, leave the doors in your rooms open so that he knows that you are near. Be sure to give your baby his favorite doll or toy, so he will feel more confident and calmer. Then you can gradually teach the child to sleep in private.
Step 4
If the child does not want to sleep in his room, purchase a cot or sofa specially for him. You can take your baby to the store so that he can participate in the selection of furniture. So he will feel his importance and independence. He will probably want to sleep in his new bed.
Step 5
Many babies feel the weakness of their mother, therefore they are capricious before going to bed. Let dad put the child to bed for a while. Usually, children listen to their fathers better, so they can fall asleep with them faster and more calmly.
Step 6
It is important to stop playing active and noisy games closer to sleep - children are very excited from active games and do not sleep well. Also, before going to bed, you should not master new games or give new toys - the child will not immediately be able to break away from the new activity. Better to read familiar books or play while putting your favorite toys to bed.
