If you decide to test your IQ on your own, be mindful of choosing an IQ test. Numerous online resources offer a wide selection of various IQ tests, but most of them do not have a reliable methodology and show inflated results in order to attract the target audience to the resource. Choose tests from renowned authors whose reliability has been statistically proven. Among them are tests for determining the IQ of Eysenck, Wechsler, Amthauer, Cattel and Raven's progressive matrices.

The IQ tests, developed by Hans Eysenck, are the most popular among psychodiagnosticians. Eysenck created eight variants of IQ tests for different target groups in the age range of 18-50 years. Eysenck's first five tests are called general and allow you to find out the general level of intellectual development. Eysenck's three specialized IQ tests aim at a deeper test and assessment of mathematical, verbal and visual-spatial abilities.

If you are under 18, you can check your IQ with the David Wechsler WISC Test for the appropriate age group. Wechsler's tests assess the IQ by eleven subtests, distributed on two scales - verbal and non-verbal. In the West, Wechsler's method has become widespread due to its reliability. This is a multilevel IQ test developed by German psychologist Rudolf Amthauer. IST allows you to create a detailed profile of the subject's intelligence according to several complementary criteria. IQ test statistics are based on a normal distribution. The average value of the coefficient is 100. This indicator is considered the norm, the standard. A preschool child and an academy graduate may have an IQ of 100. This means that their mental age matches the chronological age in a particular age group. IQ scores greater than 100 indicate that your cognitive abilities are ahead of the average for your age group. Values above 120 on the Eysenck and Wechsler scales are considered an indicator of giftedness, above 140 - genius.
