Babies are born every day, but their parents are not always psychologically ready for their birth. Not everyone knows what children are for and how radically life will change with their appearance.
Just a few decades ago, such a question was not raised in principle, since the presence of a child in a family, and preferably two, was taken for granted. Those who lived without children were pitied, considering them sterile. The very idea of a conscious lack of desire to have a child was considered almost immoral.
Today, many people think about why children are needed, long before deciding to conceive them. This is especially true of the first child, since in those cases when there are already children in the family, the answer to this question is much easier - they have something to compare with.
It is difficult to convince a modern person only by the fact that procreation is characteristic of any living creature. The reproductive instinct is also present in humans, but a conscious approach to this distinguishes it from animals. Often they do not have children precisely because they have no desire to sacrifice something. And even if we consider those who refuse to have children as selfish, living only for themselves, this does not affect the quality of life of the latter. To give birth to a child just because everyone has or is already old age is also not the best idea. Therefore, the motive must be more serious.
Some people think that babies are a great help in old age and see having them as a long-term investment. But this is not entirely true. There are many examples of how native children do not take care of elderly parents, while childless pensioners feel great.
At the level of psychology, many couples strive to have a child because it is he who makes the family more complete, allowing them to move to a different social stage. Indeed, the child brings the spouses together and makes it possible to see family life from a different perspective. But if everything is not all right in the relationship, then you should not expect that in this way it will be possible to solve all the difficulties.
The most correct approach to the problem of whether children are needed is based on love for them. The happiness from the first child's smile is difficult to compare in depth with the most expensive material goods. Children demand a lot, but no less and give back to their parents. Therefore, the birth of a child can be considered not only the highest miracle, but also the greatest happiness.
