The most important way for a child to learn about the world is play. Newborns need play almost as much as they need communication. The dexterity and precision of the little fingers depends on the nervous, muscular and skeletal systems in combination with visual coordination. Therefore, the development of fine motor skills of the hands is very important for the unborn child.
Pea drawing
Take a piece of cardboard and draw a simple drawing on it, such as a man or a Christmas tree. Then apply glue along the lines from the pencil. Glue the peas along the line with the child. When a child works with such small objects as peas, he trains the muscles and fingers.
Sorting small items
Collect beads, balls, or any small items in a saucer. It is good if the objects are of different colors and different shapes. Ask your child to sort them first by shape, then by color and size.
Or give your toddler tweezers and small pom-poms. Place small plates or ice cube trays in front of it. And with the help of tweezers, the child should spread one pompom in each section of the mold.
You can also use a bottle instead of ice molds. You need to get a pom-pom into the narrow opening of the bottle. This exercise will help develop accuracy and coordination.
Bolts and nuts
To complete the task, you will need large bolts and nuts. The point is to select the right nut for a specific bolt. Show your child how to screw the nut onto the bolt.
Colored sand drawing
Help your child draw a simple outline drawing on a piece of paper. Lubricate it with glue. After that, grabbing the sand with his fingers, the baby must fill in the drawing with it. After the glue is dry, remove any excess sand from the picture. This exercise develops not only motor skills, but also creative thinking.
Jars
Prepare empty jars and containers from drinking yoghurts, creams, medicines, and so on. They should be of different shapes and sizes. Invite your child to first open all the jars, and then, having correctly selected the lids, close again. You can complicate the task a little and give the banks open immediately.
Get empty drinking yogurt jars with lids. Put pencils, ribbons, counting sticks in them. The kid will have to open the jars and extract the contents from them. And then try to fill the jars again.
Playing with a thread
Cut the colored plastic cocktail tubes into pieces. The exercise consists in stringing pieces of a tube on a string in a specific sequence. You can replace the tube with beads. Stringing the beads on a string or straw is great for developing fine motor skills.
Hole punch painting
Cut a figurine out of cardboard. Then punch holes along the edge of this figure with a hole punch. Now give your child a colored ribbon or string. Ask to thread it through the holes.
