Sea buckthorn and its beneficial properties

Healthy children, starting from 7-8 months, will only benefit from sea buckthorn, but those children who suffer from diseases of the gallbladder, liver or high acidity of gastric juice can only injure their body.

Sea buckthorn is considered one of the most useful berries in Siberia. It is rich in vitamins C, A, group B, acids and tannins. It is popularly valued for its ability to preserve not only taste, but also useful properties even after freezing. It rightfully bears the names "miracle berry" and "forest pharmacy". One of the most important properties of sea buckthorn is immunomodulatory. In addition, sea buckthorn berries and oil help with metabolic disorders, hypovitaminosis and skin diseases.

She is also capable of helping to recover from an illness.

However, like many other healthy berries, sea buckthorn can cause allergies in a child if eaten in large quantities. However, almost any product can be an allergen, which means that it is impossible to deprive a child of such a tasty and healthy product.

How to feed a baby sea buckthorn

You can give the berry both in pure form and in the form of juices, fruit drinks and syrups. It is both tasty and healthy. The berry in its pure form, due to the high content of vitamin C (in sea buckthorn, the mass fraction of this vitamin is even greater than in citrus fruits) and acids, has a peculiar taste. And not only not every child, but also an adult will agree to eat it with unsweetened sugar. But berries can bring great benefits both for the development of taste buds and for the health of the baby without sugar. Therefore, in order not to discourage the child's craving for knowledge, but at the same time to check the body's reaction to a new product, for the first time it is better to limit ourselves to one or two berries.

The second option for diversifying a child's menu with the help of sea buckthorn is the introduction of juices, fruit drinks and syrups from this berry into the diet.

There are two methods of preparing fruit drink: in one case, half a glass of berries and sugar to taste are taken per liter of water. To prepare fruit drink according to this recipe, it is necessary to squeeze juice from the berries, mix with sugar and water and let it brew for two to three hours.

The second option will require a little more effort: squeeze the juice from a glass of berries, mix the pomace with a liter of water and brew for 5-7 minutes. Then strain, mix with juice and sugar (also to taste), cool and give to the child.

When making sea buckthorn juice, remember that it is better to dilute the drink in a ratio of 1: 3 for children under one year old and 1: 1 for older toddlers. You can dilute sea buckthorn juice not only with water, apple, carrot or blackcurrant juice is also used. To prepare a drink, you need to pour the washed berries with water in the following proportion: for 1 kilogram of berries, 2 glasses of water and heat to 80 degrees for an hour. Then squeeze out the juice.

For storage, it must be poured into sterilized bottles.

Alternatively, you can learn how to make sea buckthorn syrup. For this, a liter of sea buckthorn juice is mixed with 1, 2–1, 5 kg of sugar, heated to 50 degrees and the sugar is completely dissolved. In no case should you boil the syrup. You can drink with tea or simply dilute with water for children from one and a half years old.
