What is vaccination
Vaccination is the introduction into the human body of weakened viruses, killed bacteria or their proteins to form immunity to the effects of such microorganisms. As a result, a person must acquire resistance to the disease that is spread by this virus.
It is worth recalling that this manipulation is not entirely harmless. Firstly, the very process of introducing the composition is rather unpleasant. Secondly, vaccinations have side effects in the form of lethargy, fever, and allergic reactions. The vaccine must be stored properly or the consequences are unknown.
Vaccination schedule
While in the maternity hospital, the BCG vaccine is administered to children on the third day of life. It is an anti-tuberculosis drug. Doctors do not recommend giving it up. Also, the newborn is vaccinated against hepatitis B. Usually, this manipulation occurs on the first day after birth. It is believed that such vaccination is extremely necessary for children in whose families people with these diseases live, as well as for those who constantly reside in unfavorable social conditions. Re-introduction of the vaccine is carried out already in the polyclinic at the place of residence of a month-old baby and upon reaching the age of two months. It happens that revaccination occurs in six months.
The next stage of vaccination occurs in a child at three months. Since at this age such diseases as rubella, measles, tetanus, whooping cough and diphtheria are significantly capable of undermining health, it is imperative that the baby be vaccinated against them. Revaccination then occurs at 4, 5 and 6 months.
If a child belongs to a risk group, that is, was born with anatomical defects, hematological cancers, and received immunosuppressive therapy, then he is vaccinated against hemophilic infection. The same applies to children born to HIV-infected mothers. The Ministry of Health is currently considering making the vaccine mandatory.
In general, vaccinations given up to a year are designed to form a strong immunity in a child. In the future, having familiarized themselves with the vaccination calendar, parents can independently adjust the dates of vaccinations individually for their baby.
It is noteworthy that today the mother of the child is able to choose a vaccine from certain manufacturers, but it is not a fact that it will be free of charge.
