The healthy development of a baby depends entirely on his proper sleep. In addition, this is the only opportunity for parents to take a break from a hard day at work. What needs to be done in order for the baby to sleep soundly, and he does not wake up every hour?
Instructions
Step 1
Young children wake up at night just to eat. And the younger the baby, the shorter the feeding interval for him. If your child wakes up just for food and, having satisfied his hunger, continues to sleep further, this means that everything is fine and there is nothing to worry about.
Step 2
But when the baby, having eaten, continues to cry, then, most likely, he has something in pain or something scared. This is mainly due to colic or intestinal gas. In this case, dill water or special preparations (espumisan, cuplaton, and so on) will help well. It is highly undesirable to take these drugs without a doctor's prescription, therefore, before prescribing self-treatment, you should consult with your pediatrician, who will be able to diagnose and choose an adequate treatment regimen.
Step 3
Cold or heat, a wet diaper, an uncomfortable bed, or teething are common causes of poor sleep in a baby.
Step 4
Older children begin to be aware of what is happening around them. From this moment on, their sleep can already be affected by their mental activity, that is, strong emotions or experiences can cause poor sleep. In order to avoid their influence on the child's sleep, no later than three or four hours before bedtime, it is worth excluding all outdoor games and strong emotional stress (both positive and negative).
Step 5
No matter how much you would like to wake up at night, a child under three months of age will not be able to withstand a feeding interval for more than six hours. Therefore, you still have to wake up at night to feed him. But already closer to four months after birth, despite the fact that the duration of the child's sleep will not change, the bulk of the sleep period will fall on the night.
Step 6
It is worth remembering that if the baby shudders during sleep or is awake for a short time, but immediately after that falls asleep, then this is not a pathology.
Step 7
Most often, babies after eight or nine months of life practically stop waking up at night for feeding, but this does not happen with everyone. Some children still continue to eat at night, sometimes even up to a year or more, despite the fact that they do not need it at all.
Step 8
It also happens that a child may wake up from the fact that he is afraid to sleep alone (this happens especially often when the child is used to sleeping with his parents). Therefore, in order to wean him, you should always put him to bed in his personal crib, which will be located next to your bed. Every day, try to push it further and further towards the children's room.
