Step 1
Unlike a newborn baby, at 8 months, the baby actively learns the world around him, social skills begin to form in him. The child learns to interact with the people around him, to communicate with his parents, his feelings and emotions become more complicated. Development during this period is extremely individual: all children grow and acquire new knowledge at their own pace. However, there are some of the most common traits that most 8-month-olds have.
Step 2
At 8 months of age, the child no longer feeds exclusively on breast milk. Even if the mother continues to breastfeed the baby, at this stage the baby also receives "adult" food as complementary foods. He has the first milk teeth: usually by the age of 8 months, their number varies from two to six. The weight of a baby at this age is on average 7-8 kg. Do not worry if your child is slightly behind the generally accepted weight and height indicators. In the absence of diseases and malformations, a slight discrepancy with standard indicators is considered a variant of the norm.
Step 3
By the end of 8 months, the baby is acquiring new physical skills. Its muscles are strengthened, and this allows the baby to sit down and hold the body in this position for a while. The child cannot stand on his own yet, but he is already making attempts to stay on his feet and take the first hesitant steps, leaning on the side of the bed or pulling himself up on his arms. An eight-month-old baby is getting stronger and more resilient every day. Every day he takes more and more confident steps at the support and by the year he begins to confidently stand on his feet and walk independently.
Step 4
The child easily holds toys and various objects in his hands, showing initiative in the game. Fine motor skills develop: the baby has the opportunity to play with small objects that were previously inaccessible.
Step 5
An important achievement of this age is the development of speech. The child responds to the familiar voices of loved ones, "hums" and learns to turn sounds into syllables. Repeated many times simple syllables become the first step to meaningful speech. If a child at 8 months has already begun to pronounce the syllables "yes", "ma", "ba", it is quite possible that his parents will not have long to wait for the coveted first word "mom".
