“Child safety above all else”: under this slogan, the rules for the transportation of children in cars were introduced in Russia. According to the regulations, a child under 12 years old must be in a special chair or cradle. There are several types of car seats, created taking into account the characteristics of children of different ages.

Instructions

Step 1

For newborn babies, choose a category 0 infant car seat. It is a child-friendly, fully horizontal carrier that sits across the movement in the back seat. The cradle itself is secured with regular seat belts, and a wide belt inside is provided for the child. Unfortunately, such a cradle is not very safe: most models cannot withstand even simple crash tests, so in case of an accident, a child can get dangerous injuries.

Step 2

To better protect your child, place him in the category 0+ carrycot. In it, the child is in a semi-recumbent position, fastened with internal three- or five-point belts. Such models are also suitable for newborn babies, they can last up to 6 months - 1 year, depending on the size of the cradle, baby and clothes on it.

Step 3

There are also combined models, "0/0 +", which can be folded out at different angles and have two ways of fastening - a wide belt over the tummy or a three-point one. In any case, it should be borne in mind that the horizontal position during an accident is recognized as the most dangerous for the child. In addition, for at least a year, the baby must drive against the movement of the car, since with a relatively heavy head, his neck muscles are still weak and even sharp braking can damage them.

Step 4

"For growth" choose car seats of group "1" with an internal five-point harness and soft inserts. For babies, it is better to choose models in which the angle of the backrest changes. A child older than 6 months can be seated in a chair with a backrest inclination of 120-140 degrees, but if the inclination is 90-100 degrees, only after a year, provided that he is already sitting steadily and the trip will be short. As a rule, a child can ride in such a chair up to 2, 5-3 years old.

Step 5

For older children, choose the model of the group "2/3", with an adjustable backrest and a detachable seat. In it, the child is fastened with a regular seat belt, and its position can most often be adjusted. The back of the chair "grows" over time, and then comes unfastened. All that remains is the booster (seat), the child can ride on it until the age of 12 or until his height exceeds 150 cm.
