A children's party, a matinee and a school play are a good reason to dress your son in the costume of a medieval knight. In a suit made with his own hands, the boy will surely feel like an invincible warrior, able to protect the kingdom from insidious conquerors and huge dragons.
It is necessary
- - the cloth;
- - cardboard;
- - plywood;
- - glue;
- - threads;
- - paints;
- - sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a jumper to create a pattern for a suit, which is the size of the child at the present time. Place the piece on the velvet folded in half. To prevent the fabric and jumper from slipping on it, pin them together with tailor's pins. Carefully circle the raglan (without sleeves) with chalk, leaving 2 cm for an allowance. Cut out the tunic, which, when unfolded, should be a rectangle with a cutout in the middle - the neck of the suit.
Step 2
Cut the lower cuts of the tunic in the form of large teeth. If the fabric looses at the cut, overcast it with a zigzag stitch. To make the knight's costume tighter, sew a lining cut in a similar pattern to the seamy side of the tunic.
Step 3
To decorate the costume, cut out a satin cross and sew it in the center of the front of the tunic. The sides of the tunic can be decorated with braid, which also serves as a belt. From the seamy side of the sidewalls, it is necessary to sew on garters, thanks to which the floors will not fly apart.
Step 4
To make the image of the knight complete, you need to complement the costume with armor. To make a shield, take an old tray or cut a circle out of a sheet of plywood or thick cardboard. If the cardboard is easily deformed, glue several sheets together.
Step 5
Wrap the base of the shield with metallized paper or foil. Then cut out the details of the coat of arms from colored paper (the symbolism of the coat of arms can be very diverse). Glue them to the center of the shield. To make it comfortable for the child to hold it in the hand, attach an elastic band or strap to it on the back side. You can also make hand and shin guards out of foil-wrapped cardboard.
Step 6
Chain mail is somewhat more difficult to make. It can be knitted with a large crochet or large knitting needles made of silver gray yarn. You can add polypropylene twine from a hardware store to the strands folded several times. The most suitable knitting methods are crochet stitches or hosiery.
Step 7
You can search for a helmet among old toys and slightly update it, or you can make a slit for the eyes in a knitted hat. It is best to decorate a visor made of cardboard with a Gothic pattern, fix it like a mask.
Step 8
Old rods, planks, cuttings, etc. are suitable for making combat weapons. However, remember that they should be blunt, light, and therefore safe for the children.
