Each person is interested to know where he comes from and who his ancestors were. The answer to this question is provided by a branch of history called genealogy. Having studied the history of your family, you want to somehow organize and save the information collected about your relatives. This can be done in several ways, one of which is the design of a family tree.

Instructions

Step 1

Start by collecting information about relatives: dates, photos, diaries, letters, metrics, documents, diplomas, etc. Ask your elders - grandparents about themselves and their ancestors. From the stories and memories of the older generation, you can learn many remarkable facts from the life of specific people, get information about their financial situation, physical condition, appearance, habits, get acquainted with family traditions and legends.

Step 2

Try drawing a family tree on a Whatman paper and decorating the wall with it like a geographic map, or decorate the tree in the form of a book: on the first page, depict a tree, indicate people in numbers, and below give a numbered list. On each next page of the book, place a photo of a relative, a short biography and write his number on the tree.

Step 3

Design the family tree itself as follows: the trunk is you, the large branches are your parents, the smaller ones are grandparents, etc. By the way, such a family tree is called ascending. In the case of a descending tree, the opposite is true: indicate your ancestor at the base, and you yourself should be in the crown.

Step 4

When decorating a tree, write the name and surname (or number) on the circles depicted on the trunk and branches, or on the leaves or fruits. In Western Europe there is a custom, according to which, a family tree is decorated using a background of different colors. The names of men who do not have offspring are written on a red background, those who have - on a yellow one; names of married women in purple, girls in blue. Living and surviving relatives are shown against a green background: men - on a darker one, women - on a lighter one. Male names are written in rectangles or rhombuses, female names in ovals or circles.

Step 5

Despite the fact that in Russia such a designation is used quite rarely, try to depict the tree of your family according to this custom - it will look very beautiful.
