Parents of babies often meet with inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eyes, which is accompanied by purulent discharge. You must immediately consult with an ophthalmologist to prescribe treatment.
Instructions
Step 1
Remember - without consulting a doctor, never instill any medicine in the child's eyes, except for boiled and settled water. Talk to your doctor about how the drops should be stored. If drops are to be kept in the refrigerator, be sure to warm them up before instilling them. The eyes are sensitive to cold and warm medicine is easier to tolerate.
Step 2
Wash your hands with soap and water before the procedure. Keep your nails short. Boil the glass part of the pipette. You can use a disposable, sterile one-milliliter syringe as a pipette, of course, removing the needle.
Step 3
Explain to the kid what you want to do and why and what will be a little unpleasant. You can promise your child a gift for calm behavior.
Step 4
Rub your eyes with cotton pads, moving towards your nose. If purulent discharge has accumulated in the eyes of the baby, then first rinse them with boiled water or a decoction of herbs, for example, chamomile. If there is no pus, then you can immediately instill the medicine. Be sure to flush both eyes, first healthy, then sick. Use a separate tissue or cotton pad for each eye.
Step 5
Shake the vial. If you are burying for the first time, then read the instructions carefully.
Step 6
Lay the child on his back, throw his head back a little. If the child is restless, then ask the household to support the child. It is recommended to swaddle the hands of babies for the safety of the procedure.
Step 7
Gently pull down the baby's lower eyelid. If the child is very afraid, then gently and quickly open the eyelids with your thumb and forefinger. Place one or two drops on the outer edge of the eye. Blot excess medication with a tissue. The pipette tip should not touch the mucous membrane of the eye.
Step 8
Allow your child to close their eyes. Gently massage your eyes through your closed eyelids. If the eyes begin to water, then the action of the medicine has begun.
Step 9
In order not to injure the child, it is better to use a drop of ointment instead. They have a special device like a pipette that allows you to squeeze drops into the corner of the eye. Further, the ointment diverges through the eye on its own. In addition, ointments have a greater effect than drops, since they do not irritate the mucous membrane and the tears do not wash out the medicine.
