To keep breastfeeding longer, doctors recommend that mothers feed their baby on demand, get plenty of rest, sleep well, and eat properly and regularly. This is in theory. But in practice, mothers get very tired, do not get enough sleep, eat in a hurry and when they have to. Yes, we can give the baby a breast on demand. But often this is not enough for full lactation. The amount of breast milk begins to decrease and gradually it disappears completely. This is exactly what happened to my girlfriend and almost happened to me.
At 2, 5 months, my son refused to breastfeed and I began to lose milk. But I managed to keep breastfeeding and even increase lactation. Here is my list of rules for a nursing mom.
Instructions
Step 1
Express or breastfeed your baby as often as possible. Ideal: every 2 hours until full lactation is restored. I was able to express milk every 3-4 hours. And often my child at this time demanded attention, was capricious and shouted. Is it cruel? Everyone decides for himself: either the child yells, but eats mother's milk, or the child is calm, but eats the mixture.
Please note: if you are breastfeeding, it means that you must express the remaining milk after feeding. While expressing, constantly massage your breasts to express every last drop.
Step 2
Milky Way formula for nursing mothers. This is the only pharmacy remedy from which the effect was seen. You need to drink it 4 times a day 20-30 minutes before expressing / feeding. The mixture is quite expensive: a 400-gram can costs 420 rubles and lasts for 2 weeks. The instructions say that the remedy must be taken before full lactation is restored. Not true. You will have to drink throughout breastfeeding, otherwise milk will again become less. And also this mixture tastes very unpleasant.
Other pharmaceutical products - Lactogon tablets, Mlekoin granules, lactation teas from various manufacturers - did not help me.
Step 3
Ginger tea. If you read about ginger on the Internet, you can find out that this plant is almost a panacea for all diseases. In our family, ginger tea is regularly drunk as a prevention and treatment for colds. This is how I discovered the lactogonic properties of ginger. Ginger tea is very easy to make: wash one small root of ginger, clean it, grind it into porridge with a blender (or three on a grater) and brew 0.5 liters of boiling water. We insist for 15-20 minutes. We drink either neat or diluted with hot water.
The taste of ginger tea is sharp, very rich and pungent. To make drinking tea easier, you can add honey.
