Instructions

Step 1

Before we start accustoming a child to his crib, let's take his age into account. Doctors recommend weaning off at 6-8 months, since by this time night feedings are reduced to almost zero, and the child can roll over to another side by himself. Please note that the child must be put to bed at exactly the same time.

Step 2

Think of a ritual that you will constantly do before you start putting your baby to bed (sing a song, give a light massage, look at a picture book). The duration of such actions should be 10 minutes.

Step 3

After you complete the ritual, put the baby in the crib, say "Good night" to him and leave the room. Naturally, the baby will cry, but you are in no hurry to calm him down. Two minutes should pass, then go to the baby, calm him down, kiss him, say "Good night" again and leave the room again. This time for 4 minutes, then the time should be increased by one minute. As a rule, the child falls asleep after 8-12 approaches. But note that every child is unique and some children may not fall asleep after two hours. You should not give indulgences, stand firm on your own, but be gentle, do not raise your voice. But on the second day, you need to add not one minute, but two. Remember, if you give in to the baby once, you will always do it. Despite the fact that the children are still very young, they feel and remember everything well, and soon begin to command their relatives.

Step 4

If the child wakes up and cries at night, do not ignore it. Find out what happened, maybe he is sick, hungry or cold. If everything is okay, calm him down and put him to bed. Remember that you, first of all, a mother, and must understand your child, sympathize, share his fear.

Step 5

Make sure that there are no extra blankets or pillows near the baby's bed, the mattress should fit well against the headboard. Bed linen must be sized to fit the baby's crib.
