For about a year and at an older age, all children intend to show independence, but, of course, not everything comes out and not on the first try. In particular, take food yourself with a fork and spoon, drink from a mug or glass. Adults need to help the child in this.
The first step is to have lunch with your baby - he will begin to imitate an adult and learn. Also, focus his attention on how other children who have already learned this skill eat and eat. At first, two forks and spoons should be constantly kept on the table: one for an adult and the other for a beloved child.
Because the child takes the very first steps in this and very often rummages in the plate for a long time, you should support him - feed him with a second spoon.
A great motivation for children is a game: a plate with a surprise picture at the bottom, you can buy it in children's specialized stores. It is very important that this picture arouses the curiosity of your child (smiling bunny, dog, bear, etc.). Intrigue the kid, tell him that the bear (for example) will be very happy if he empties the plate completely. An important rule must be observed: never put pressure on children, this only causes negative reactions.
If the child already has a good command of cutlery, but often "grimaces", you must try to comprehend the reason. Maybe he's trivial - not really hungry, then it's worth having lunch later. If you are faced with negative reactions to delaying lunch and mischief, such actions should always be suppressed. Because an adult teaches a child, not an adult's child. After a while, the child realizes your indignation and begins to take food with appetite and carefully, of course, when he is really hungry.
Constantly teach your child to be hygienic and neat. If he made a mess in the kitchen, show by example how to properly clean and wash after yourself. It is advisable to install industrial filters for water purification. Together with the child, an adult should wash his hands both before and after eating. Since all good habits are formed in childhood.
A big mistake of parents is forcing the baby to eat only what follows by definition, and as many portions as the parent considers necessary. In addition, you do not need to amuse him with toys while eating and offer to eat a spoon for grandmother, for grandfather, etc. He can easily get used to games and persuasion. You can have some fun later.
Finally, it is worth noting that the child's diet should be as varied as possible. Be sure to regularly encourage your baby for all the successes and achievements - this will be the best incentive for him - to strive to do everything better every time.
