Baby clothes should always be made of quality materials. Now the assortment of stores with children's clothing is huge, and you can choose any outfit. But deciding to knit a sweater for your baby, you will create a unique thing that will have no analogues.
It is necessary
- - thin yarn (acrylic is best, because natural threads can cause allergies);
- - knitting needles;
- - large needle;
- - buttons or fasteners.
Instructions
Step 1
Make a sweater pattern - this way it will be more convenient for you to determine where you need to start decreasing, and where you need to add loops. Cut a life-size pattern out of paper so you can be sure you haven't made a mistake with the size. Knit a sample from the selected yarn, count the number of loops in one centimeter and mark the measurements on your pattern.
Step 2
Cast on the knitting needles the required number of loops (hip volume in centimeters multiplied by the number of loops in the centimeter of the sample). Tie a few centimeters with an elastic band, then move on to knitting the main fabric. In the first row, add 7 loops, evenly distributing them. Knit the fabric of the sweater in the pattern of your choice until you reach the sleeve area.
Step 3
Close the number of stitches required for the sleeves evenly on both sides. In the last row, form an armhole - divide the number of loops by three, and close the resulting number of loops in the center. In the following, carefully decrease the hinges, making sure that both sides taper evenly. Do not forget to leave room for the clasp on the shoulder, as it is inconvenient for the child to put the sweater over the head. Tie a strap under the fastener with an elastic band, about 4 cm long.
Step 4
Tie the front of the sweater as well - start with the elastic, then knit the main fabric with the selected pattern. Close the buttonholes for the sleeves, do not forget to make the neckline (2 centimeters earlier than you did it on the back). Knit a second shoulder strap.
Step 5
Tie the sleeves. Cast on the needles a number of stitches equal to the diameter of the child's wrist times the number of stitches that fit in one centimeter of your sample. Knit a few centimeters with an elastic band, then add 7 loops in the first row, after another 7 rows add 3 loops. Finish knitting at a height equal to the length of the arm from wrist to elbow, keeping the arm bent.
Step 6
Sew all the parts - using a needle with a large eye, connect the front and back parts, process the sleeves, sew them in. Sew buttons on the placket and make cuts for them, crocheting the edges.
Step 7
Moisten the sweater, lay it out on a flat surface and let dry.
