Step 1
Use warm running water to wash your baby. A careful toilet of the baby's external genitalia avoids inaccuracies in the analysis results. The groin area needs to be washed from front to back - this is especially important when the girl's toilet. Blot the baby's genitals with a clean, dry diaper. It is strictly forbidden to use powder and creams before urine collection, since the ingress of impurities into the analysis will distort its result.
Step 2
Wash and steam sterilize the test container. This measure will help get rid of germs and bacteria that may enter the sample. If you are using a pharmacy sterile urine container, you can skip this step.
Step 3
Take your baby to the bathroom and turn on the tap. Hold your baby over a sink or basin with a urine container over the genitals. The noise of the water will relax the sphincter of the bladder, and the sample will be in the right place. Most often, the baby goes to the toilet immediately after waking up and after feeding, so this step is best timed at this time. Otherwise, you will have to wait about an hour until the bladder refills. This method is good for very young children. A child older than 3-4 months is unlikely to allow himself to be kept over the sink for a long time. Therefore, it is better to carry out the analysis of grown-up children in the following way.
Step 4
Use a disposable urine collection bag for children, available at the pharmacy. It has a hypoallergenic adhesive base, due to which it adheres tightly to the child's genitals. Its sterility guarantees the purity and accuracy of the analysis. The boy's penis is placed inside the urine bag through a special hole, the adhesive base is tightly pressed against the skin. For girls, this device is glued to the labia majora. If you put on panties or a diaper over the glued urine bag, it will fix better, which will prevent it from accidentally peeling off and leaking.
Step 5
Peel off the filled bag. Pour its contents into a previously prepared sterile container and take it to the laboratory.
