Let's be honest - the first class for the child and parents is not only a holiday, but also a huge stress for the whole family. And most of all, the "hero of the occasion" himself suffers, having tried on a new social role. The task of the parents is to make sure that the new period passes as best and calmer as possible for the child.

Adaptation to school does not begin on September 1, but much earlier. Then it will be easier and clearer for the child to accept new changes in life. Someone sends the child in advance to prepare for school. This makes sense if your child hasn't attended preschool. Then the ability to sit at a desk, answer teacher's questions, and interact with other children will come in handy. “Kindergartens” already have an idea of how to behave in class and have self-service skills.

But there are three summer months ahead, during which it is quite possible to prepare the future student for a new life. Many people advise to start living according to the school schedule. There is a rational approach to this: getting up early and going to bed, classes, naps, meals on a schedule will help to establish biorhythms. If any of the children have problems with discipline and behavior, it's time for correction. Yes, children have the right to self-expression, only the school has its own rules. Teach children not to interrupt adults, call them "you", instill minimal education skills (say hello, apologize, wish a good mood, etc.).

Assess your child adequately and teach him to perceive himself correctly. It is common for parents to be touched by every success of the child, and at school they will begin to evaluate him based on real possibilities. But do not go to extremes - criticism on every occasion will have a negative effect. Just slowly begin to lead the child to the idea that good work can only be achieved by diligence. For example: “Yes, I wrote it well! Let's just correct it a little here and it will be even better."

What problems can you face already at school. The main one is interaction with peers. Moreover, both shy children and active ones can have problems. The former find it difficult to make acquaintances, the latter cannot channel their energy into a peaceful channel. You may experience dramatic changes in your child's behavior. Various fears and phobias (if any), nervousness, tearfulness may return, active children after school can literally destroy everything around (is it a joke to sit quietly for several hours).

How can parents help? Return naps to your child's daily routine. Do not get hung up on homework, since there are practically none, go for a walk. Don't overwhelm your child with extra activities. Maximum sports, something for the soul (drawing, chess) and no additional educational activities. Is additional English necessary in first grade?

Work on your inflated parenting expectations. The biggest problem of schoolchildren is their parents, who expect high results from them. The first class is not about knowledge, grades, study. In the first grade, a child needs to learn to learn. For 6-7 year olds, 4 lessons a day is an unreasonable load. Moreover, the activity changes dramatically every forty minutes. They just drew mathematics with paints. And they cannot yet work in multitasking mode.
