How to teach a child to read

Teaching your child to read requires regular practice. At first, devote no more than 10 minutes to training, then you can extend the classes to half an hour.

Teaching the child the letters

First of all, the child needs to learn all the letters. Cubes will help with this. Each cube depicts an object with a letter on which it begins, for example, F - a beetle, D - a house. Give the task to the kid to find the letter Ж, do not prompt, give him the opportunity to show independence. If the child is not yet successful, tell him that F is a beetle. The next letter will be easier for him to find.

But even if the kid learns all the letters by cubes, this does not mean that he will be able to read right away. Now all the letters he began to associate with certain animals or objects. You need to move on to the next stage of training. Just write letters on paper, without any bugs and spiders. But again, there will be a game of associations. List all relatives and friends whom the baby knows very well. For example, write the letter P and say that this is dad, the letter K is Kolya, a little neighbor's boy, B is a grandmother, and so on. Then ask the child to find Dad's letter, then to Colin and Grandma.

The kid has already begun to recognize letters better, but it is too early to move on to reading. The ABC will be a good help for learning. In it, the principle of memorizing letters is about the same as with cubes. But there the pictures are already different, for example, if on the cube the letter K meant a cat, then in the ABC it will be a doll. So the child will be able to memorize letters without being attached to a certain picture, but will begin to associate them with the first letter of the word. It will be good if a small quatrain is written to the picture with the letter in the book, each line of which begins with the letter that is being studied at the moment. Each time, remembering letters with a child before bedtime, read this rhyme to him. This activity will appeal to the kid and even replace reading bedtime stories.

How to teach a child to read syllables correctly

Now the letters are well entrenched in the child's memory, you can start reading. To teach a child to read, you will need to purchase a new book, in which first syllables are written, starting with each letter, then small words from them, then more complex words, and then sentences from these words.

Learn the syllables, teach your child the syllable "ma" to pronounce not separately according to the letter M and A, but together. After studying the syllables, you can start reading simple words from the studied syllables: ma-ma.

As you read these simple words, repeat each letter with your child so that he can easily read longer words later.

Sentences from the studied words should be clear to the child in meaning. It is good if there is an illustration next to it depicting what was written. This will make sure your little one has read everything correctly.

How to teach a child to read books

When the syllables, words from them and sentences are studied, you can proceed to reading small poems and stories. To do this, you will no longer need an educational book, but a real children's collection.

Start reading books with your child. This will help him not only to consolidate the basics of reading, but also to develop, logic, imagination and memory. Choose books with pictures depicting what was written. First of all, study the picture with the child, ask who is drawn, what is doing, etc. Then let him try to read the poem. The child will be very happy when he sees that the text he read coincides with the picture, he will like this game.

Read a new poem every day, do not forget to repeat the old ones. Let the child tell them to the guests.

Later you can start reading fairy tales. They should be small, because it is still difficult for a baby to memorize a lot of information. After reading, ask your child to retell the story in their own words.

Always praise your child, give encouragement. He really needs your support and approval. Teaching a child to read is an important and responsible task!
