Step 1
First you need to apply for a visa. And not a simple one, but the one called the bride's visa. Be prepared for the development of your romance to be of great interest to the immigration service. Have proof of the duration and seriousness of your relationship on hand. It can be correspondence, already used plane tickets in those moments when you went on a date to your fiance, various tickets to the theater or to other events (preferably personalized ones), hotel receipts. In a word, these should be some kind of documents confirming your romance. An open bride visa gives you only 90 days to move to the United States and then get married.
Step 2
To obtain a bride visa, you will need a fairly voluminous package of documents. First, your fiancé has to fill out certain forms, which include your bio. So that he can draw up all the documents in the correct way, you will need to send him a copy of the first page of your passport and one color photograph. Requirements for it - the limitation period is not earlier than 30 days before the date of dispatch, on a white background, glossy, without retouching and frames, the head from the chin to the top should be 3-5 cm, the head turn by 3/4, i.e. … so that the right side of the face with the right ear is slightly visible. On it you need to sign on the reverse side and write the surname in printed English letters. Also, your fiance will need a copy of the birth certificate with a certified translation of this document, a short biography indicating your addresses and phone numbers for the last 5 years, as well as the names of places of work and positions for the same period. These documents are sent to America by regular mail. In turn, you will need documents confirming his material well-being from the groom.
Step 3
Now all you have to do is collect your documents: passport (must be valid), original birth certificate, certificate of no criminal record, original certificate of dissolution of the previous marriage or death certificate of the previous spouse, documents for the child (if you have one), 6 photos - Necessarily black and white, 5 x 5 cm in size on a light background, documents confirming the love relationship of the young, a certificate of the passed medical examination. After you submit these documents and pass the interview at the consulate, await the issuance of a visa. This document is drawn up from 5 months to one year.
Step 4
As soon as you enter the United States, you need to get started arranging your marriage as soon as possible. You can take advantage of different options. One of them is in the church. The one that all Russian women are accustomed to from numerous American films. Lush dress, many guests, however, mostly from the groom's side, and you are married.
Step 5
The second option is to sign at the city hall. This procedure is similar to the one that takes place in Russia. The couple simply comes to the municipality and leaves their signatures in special papers. After that, the marriage is considered registered, and you become the spouse of an American citizen.
Step 6
Having in your hands confirmation of marriage, you can apply for a Green Card, i.e. of the document that opens you a residence permit in America and allows you to obtain American citizenship in the future.
