The question of choosing diapers suitable for a baby is often difficult and even tedious, since there are many different “diapers”, or, more precisely, diapers, on the shelves in pharmacies and supermarkets, as well as in online stores today. Therefore, before you go shopping for crumbs, you need to decide which of your requirements this children's product should meet.
Instructions
Step 1
The size. The size of the diapers is determined by the weight of the baby. If the baby has not yet been born, then you can purchase a small pack of diapers, based on the weight determined by ultrasound. The standard size for newborns is the first (1), although large babies may need a two (2) right away, and crumbs or premature babies - zero (0) size (by the way, it does not occur so often). The only rule here is that the diaper must be exactly the size of the baby. Too small "diaper" will squeeze the baby's tummy or legs, and a large one may not cope with its task due to a loose fit; in this case, loose stools of a newborn may end up on diapers or clothing.
Step 2
Hypoallergenic. When purchasing diapers for a newborn, it is better to make sure that they are hypoallergenic, that is, do not contain ingredients that can potentially cause allergies, such as strong fragrances. It is likely that the baby will not be allergic to the components contained in the diapers, including fragrances, and in the future it will be possible to change the brand, but the first diapers should be as safe as possible.
Step 3
Additional properties. Additional properties of a diaper include stretching belts, elastic bands around the legs, increased absorbency (including the ability to absorb liquid baby stools), softness of the material, the thinness of the diaper, various moisturizing components, design, and so on. Of course, parents want to buy the best for their baby, but let's first figure out what of all these properties the baby really needs, and what will be just a good addition to the functions of a diaper.
Step 4
The diaper chosen for a newborn should, first of all, absorb moisture well and leave the skin and clothing (or the diaper) dry. In this regard, you should also pay attention to whether the diaper has rubber bands around the legs (if not, it will leak) and whether the diaper matches the size (if not, it will again leak, as described above). Ideal - if the "diaper" also absorbs liquid stool. This is very convenient, but, as a rule, expensive diaper models have this ability. Stretching belts are more relevant for older children who already move more actively and need better diaper fixation. The same is the case with the material. Of course, it is better if it is as soft as possible. But if it is somewhat thick or swells greatly when it gets wet, then parents can be calm - after all, this will not interfere with newborn babies when moving. As for moisturizing additives and design, this is a purely individual matter. It should only be remembered that the lotion with which the diaper is impregnated can not only soften the skin, but also cause allergies, so it is better to try such "diapers" in small packages.
Step 5
Price. The price of diapers depends on the number of pieces in the package, the manufacturer, the properties of the diaper and the place where it is sold. Since there is a very large selection of this product on the shelves in stores and pharmacies today, and it is very easy to get confused in the price ratio, it will be most convenient to choose an economical option by calculating the cost of one diaper (by simply dividing the cost of a package by the number of pieces in it).
Step 6
Finally, I would like to note that it will take some time to choose the right diapers, since this choice is made by trial and error, however, using the simple tips described above, it will be easier, cheaper and faster to do this.
