Sewing a cute sundress for a two-year-old girl is not at all difficult. You can make a simple outfit and decorate it with flowers. And if you wish, you can start creating a two-sided sundress. It will not be difficult to build a pattern, because the figures of small children are very similar.
How to sew a simple summer sundress for a child
Before starting the sewing process, you should take measurements from the child. Be sure to measure the volume of the chest, the estimated length of the product, the distance from the armpit of the shelf to the shoulder. After taking your measurements, prepare a white or light solid color fabric, orange and white threads, a thin elastic thread, colored felt, and a lighter and tweezers for making jewelry.
First you need to cut a sundress. Cut out a rectangular piece of fabric, one side of which should be equal to the volume of the baby's chest plus half of this value. The second side should be equal to the length of the product (you can add a few centimeters for the edge processing). Cut out the straps 10 cm wide. The length of the straps will be individual depending on the measurements taken. Then carefully cut out all the details.
Sew the upper edge of the sundress on a sewing machine. In this case, it should be tucked a couple of centimeters and a little tucked up. For this, you can use an elastic thread. Now it's time to try on the resulting canvas. After trying on, remove any excess fabric. Sew and zigzag the side seam of the sundress. In the same way, you need to sew the straps and sew them in the designated places.
Naturally, such a simple white sundress will require additional decoration. Take a thin felt and cut out circles of different sizes from it. Gently grasp the parts with tweezers and work around the edges with a lighter. Make cute flowers from these circles and sew them to the center of the dress with a few stitches together with red beads.
Reversible sundress for a two-year-old girl
In order to create a more complex version of a children's sundress, it is necessary to prepare two cuts of purple and green fabric, thread, 4 pairs of eyelets, scissors, a needle and pins. And of course, you can't do without a sewing machine.
The pattern can be made using a children's T-shirt. Just extend the sundress from the armpits to the desired length. The product will be tied with a ribbon, so the front of the product should be wider than the back. Carefully cut out the paper pattern and trace around the fabrics. Then sew the side seams of the front and back of the sundress. As a result, you should have two blanks - purple and green. They will need to be sewn together with the right sides inward. Remember to keep the shoulder sections open.
Then turn out the sundress and sew the shoulder sides of the product to the back. At the place where the seam is made, you will have a hole that will need to be sewn up manually with a blind seam. Install eyelets in the places of future fastening of the tape. Now it remains only to thread the ribbons into the holes formed and tie a sundress.
